[Good grief it looks like someone has been littering in front of Afonso's door because there is a basket of what could only be dog toys sitting there and what looks to be a very lovingly carved wooded crutch.
Merry Christmas, Afonso.]
(OOC: Imagine something like this for the crutch, but stained wood and with a dog theme instead. The dogs look suspiciously like Rocky for some reason.)
[Well someone's going to almost trip over this basket as he leaves his room. Catching himself Afonso blinks, first taking in the sight of the toys, giving an amused smile as Rocky immediately grabs one of the toys.]
Your old ones were getting worn. You better thank Diarmuid.
[Because who else could have left wooden toys? there? His attention then falls on the crutch, eyes widening. Was that for... For him? He picks it up gingerly, running a finger down the carving, smiling when he notes how similar to Rocky the dogs look.
It's a little tricky getting it all back into his room - though Rocky helps by lovingly carrying his new toys in one by one to hide them by his dog bed. Once that's done he pauses, debating for a moment, before switching his old worn crutch for the new one. It's a little more tricky carrying a fairly decent size gift bag with tissue paper. Actually, it's incredibly difficult and Afonso gives up carrying it once he reaches the main space of the school.]
Diarmuid! You here?
[Something pokes out from the bag as he looks around. It almost looks like a small harp...]
[Diarmuid is in the office when Afonso calls out for him, so it doesn't take him long to make it to where his friend is waiting. He doesn't notice the bag at first. Instead, he smiles when he sees Afonso is using the new crutch.]
I see you found your gifts. Is it the right height? Does it need any adjusting?
If you call almost tripping over them and face planting on the floor finding them, then yes.
[He laughs a little, setting the bag down.]
Rocky's already sniffed through the basket and took everything inside. [The dog in question makes a happy little noise, unable to bark because he's carrying one of the new toys.] The crutch is perfect, Diarmuid. It's really... I mean you didn't have to but thank you so much.
I think it might honestly be one of the nicest gifts I've gotten in years.
[Diarmuid chuckles when he sees just how happy Rocky is with the new toys, but his laughter turns into a wide warm smile when Afonso thanks him for the crutch.]
I'm glad. You deserve nice things. I can't give you your leg back, but at least this can help.
[Afonso can't help but give Diarmuid an odd sort of look - because it's really funny he mentioned that. He remembers Chari's offer for a split second before pushing it aside. Maybe he'll ask Diarmuid for his thoughts on what to do later.]
This helps more than you can imagine. [And he bites his tongue before pointing out that Diarmuid really didn't have too. He knows the man well enough to know the statement would be waved aside.] Rocky and I have something for you too... Okay I have something for you but Rocky helped me get it home.
[The odd look can be explained later, especially since Chari's offer to give him back his leg is a very big offer and Afonso wants Diarmuid's opinion on what to do.
[Diarmuid looks closer at the bag, eyes widening when he sees what is peeking out.]
Is this...?
[He kneels down so he can get a better look into the bag. A soft sound of joy slips from his mouth as he carefully pulls the harp free, settling back into a sitting position so he can balance the harp in his lap. His fingers slide over the strings for a moment, picking out several notes before he looks up at Afonso in delight.]
[Diarmuid smiles, his fingers pulling another few notes from the strings.]
You did very well. I thought about going to the music store a time or two to see what they had, but I never got there. I'm glad you did. Would you like to hear a song? A couple of strings need a little tightening because it hasn't been played for a while, but it won't be that noticeable.
[He picks out a simple melody on the strings so he can get a better feel for the instrument.]
Any requests? A lot of people thing the harp is a very formal instrument, and granted it is, but there is a larger range to what can be played on it than most think.
[Or even if songs from his world carried over to Diarmuid's. The Grail may gave Heroic Spirits knowledge of the modern times but probably not of other worlds.]
You know, that is not as easy as it sounds. I have a lot of favorites.
[Eventually, though, he settles on a soft, calming piece. Something he actually wrote himself as a lullaby to help put his children to sleep when they were young. He softly hums the words as he plays, choosing not to sing full out just because Afonso won't understand the words. He can always translate them later.]
[If Afonso was sitting instead of standing he'd probably be resting his chin in his hands, but he still looks at Diarmuid with rapt attention. It's not hard to tell that the calming piece might be a lullaby. He smiles a little to himself, leaning against his crutch and letting his eyes fall closed briefly until the piece is done.

It is. Go on and take a peek.
[Hopefully he didn't get the wrong kind of harp.]
Do you know that harp pic was one of the contenders for the one I got Dia at the other game? :D

omg seriously? NICE!!! it's such a pretty harp and feels very dia-y

I'm afraid I don't know much about harps, so I just picked one that looked nice.
Yes! Isn't it, though?
